9th October 2009 - Everthing Must Go

Post by Jeff »

Turns out our plan to let out our house 'furnished' isn't going to work because although our sofas are within the fire regulations, apparently unless the fire regulation label is still attached, or we have the original documentation, we can't include it in the package. So, along with a lot of other stuff, they've got to go.

I've ordered a lockable loft hatch which I'll install in place of our existing hatch - then we'll stash all our accumulated 'stuff' in the attic, lock it up, and then let out the house without attic access. This means we don't need to pay for storage, or moving fees - but does mean we won't be able to access anything that's left behind for some time to come - so there's going to be some difficult decisions to be made. Rose has a fairly substantial collection of soft toys, an even larger collection of clothes and an absolutely _vast_ number of shoes/boots... they cannot all fit on Isabella! Not actually sure if they'll all fit in the attic come to that :P

If you're interested in buying any of our stuff, when I ebay it I'll stick links in this blog. Here's the sofas, a surfboard and some kite surfing bits and bobs...

I've put the sofas on ebay here:

Small two seater:

Large three seater:

Loads of old stuff from my kite-surfing days is up for grabs here:

One of my surfboards is going :( here (two remaining in the attic):

I've also been giving away a bunch of stuff using the very excellent Freecycle system. I've joined and posted in the group "Exeter Freecycle". If you don't know about it it's definitely worth checking it out. Much better than taking all your unwanted stuff to the dump. Better for the environment, and your soul :) Here's a link to the Exter group's main site:
