Want Atlantic Passage Opportunity

I'm looking to crew on an Atlantic passage (Canaries to Caribean). I have limited experience (only coastal) and limited qualifications (Day Skipper) but am fit, quick to learn and ready to go. Can anyone comment on how much crew are generally expected to contribute to passage expenses and if sites like crewseekers are worth the cost? Any suggestions on how to go about this would be appreciated.
