Drone Pilot

Post by DanielBar »

Hi,

I'm starting a business as a drone pilot, providing aerial imaging services. I'm planning to get into several markets and one of them is Yacht Photography.
Since I just obtained my Permission for Aerial Work from the CAA, I'm offering my service for free to a few yacht owners in order to build my portfolio.
If anyone is interested, please feel free to message me. I'm fully insured and I use professional tools.

I'd have loved that! Sold my boat now though :(

I'm sure you'll get some takers!

Have you got any footage on YouTube or Vimeo or something you can link to?

Jeff,

Thanks for replying. I don't have anything just yet but I'll be shooting some footage on Monday.
I want to shoot some cliffs. Any places to reccomend? Durdle Door has been filmed already so I would go for something different.

I know where there are some fantastic cliffs. But they're a long way from Luton! How far are you willing to travel for the right shot?

North Wales has loads of stunning options including: dinas cromlech. It's a short scramble from the car and on good weather days will have climbers on it doing their stuff.

Anglesey has a cliff on the North West corner on which is a climb called 'dream of white horses'. You can wander to the top from the car park and film back at yourself, while climbers ascend from below.

Scotland, check out the climb 'Agags Groove'. Stunning and again not too far from the car - a little further than the ones above though.

Closer to home but less BIG, the Peak District 'Stanage Edge' and many other gritstone outcrops.

Malham Cove is very very photogenic.

East Coast cliffs aren't so solid so see fewer climbers and I think if you can get a climber in the shot it'll add something to the footage.

Make sure there's no nesting bird restrictions or you could get yourself in trouble I suspect - but I'm sure you knew that :)

Thank you so much for your advice. Went to Malham yesterday but I got there quite late and I only had about 30-40 minutes of proper day light. Here is the result.

Ooh. You picked the right time to go to Malham. That waterfall hasn't been a warterfall (I believe) in centuries.

Why did you choose not to film Malham Cove itself? I'd have thought that would be the jewell in the crown for that location? And like the waterfall you shot, it also was flowing for the first time in centuries (the water has previously always disappeared into the ground at the top and re-appeared bubbling up out of the ground at the bottom of the cove.

Malham cove...

Check out Goredale Scar also if you're still in the area.

I was heading to Malham Cove but I couldn't park anywhere near it. If I parked farther and walked to it I would have lost all the light. I went past it hoping to find a spot where I could park close enough but the first space was right accross that waterfall which I liked a lot. I will definitely return. I'm going to Lake District in January and I might stop to Malham Cove on my way there. It's an excellent location.

I guess a lot of people wanted to see the less than once in a lifetime waterfall over the cove.

Yeah.. I read an article this morning about that. It would have been a viral video if I made it but I was totally unaware of what was happening so close from where I was filming.
