24v Diesel Eberspacher tested, fuel pump clean or replace

Post by jago25_98 »

I bought this on ebay early in the year, went abroad while getting tested at Cougar UK, an official Eberspacher test and fitting facility in south UK.

The result reads `Carbonised fuel filter. Smoked heavily. Not very good` See this picture for exact wording -

To fix this problem (and only this problem) you can either replace the fuel filter (easy!). Or alternatively you could try flushing the filter with decarbonisation fluid. That could be as easy as soaking in £2 bottle caustic soda. Or a little harder using that full on decarbonization fluid engine stuff in at pressure. Could save you £30-40 than buying a new new pump. Or buy a new one and sell the old one as needing refurb for someone else to do perhaps.

The test centre have tested this so I'd like to guarentee it but I really want to get rid of this as I don't want a 24v system (I need a 12v one - HINT HINT). There's a possibility someone could buy it not relising it's beyond them to fit it (like me) and I don't want expensive postage bills for a return like that. So I am afriad it is still SOLD AS SEEN. The test certificate(worth £23.50) I hope helps your decision, as does the fact that all the parts here are assembled ready for you. Remember that the control units can go for £80 and clean fuel pumps £40 alone. It's much better to buy with all the parts assembled already. Even the little bits, the interconnects are a pain to get hold of, especially the right sort. I guess it's quite a simple system really and I would have kept this but without a ready 24v system I got out of my depth with this.

Oh yeah, and the in/out exhausts are not rusted away (see pic).

Finally, there's a lot of documentation here ready assembled which is handy in of itself, and indeed is selling on here at a price too. There is one sheet with a diagram on it that is very faded however. Mostly still readable. I've also got the instructions there on how to fit it to a T4 printed off from the web (that was a hunt in of itself!)

Note also that this is a airblown heater. A D1L, not a D1LC. Whatever a D1LC is...

I was watching heaters for a while here and the price is, for want of a better term `Priced to sell`; lower than rate it should be according to past sold heaters, as you will see if you've been watching them. A price where even if you blew up all of it somehow the other parts would help make your money back. Thus, you could well be the first person to see this and it probably won't last long.
Courier will be something along the lines of DHL. I suggest checking with your workplace and sending it there for collection.
Accepting Moneybookers, gold, anything preferred to Paypal.

Get toasty. Hope all this assemblage helps someone out there stay warm in the truck or narrowboat.
