Lifejacket Recommendations?

Post by bobholiday »

There's a lot of jackets out there to buy. Some really expensive, others less so... a lot meet the regulations, have all the features etc...

Anyone recommend the best value for money lifejackets?

Most of the budget lifejackets retail from about £40 upwards. I'm in the process of upgrading to Automatic Harness type with a crotch strap. Usually about £50 each but look out for deals in the yachting press. The budget lifejackets are XM Yachting; SEAGO Yachting; Gaelforce Marine and maybe some others. The premium lifejacket is Crewsaver.
I have both XM and SEAGO lifejackets - they both come out well in tests. I have in fact added crotch straps after the OUZO incident last year when it was recommended that all lifejackets have crotch straps to prevent the lifejacket riding up.
