Fish under my boat!!!

I'm a keen fisherman who has not a clue about river fishing (well, it's an estuary ish) and have been trying hard to catch whatever I can.

Imagine my initial excitement at seeing this little lot under my boat!!

But I cannot catch them!!

Any ideas what they are? And how to catch one without cheating? (ie without using a harpoon)

Not much of a maggot dangler myself :D but if it's in a harbour I'm not sure I would want to eat one anyway

Possibly a baby basking shark ?
Hand grenade would do it, but you might not be too popular with others there
How big is it ? can't really tell from the pic

Look like mullet to me. Never caught one myself either but Henry of Fishing with Henry fame catches them by floating hooked bread crusts.

Grey Mullet,

Not easy to catch! very fussy feeders They have very soft mouths & easily spit the hook, bread is the best bait. Good luck
