Try it without, and with a bit of decent quality salt (rock salt is gorgeous). Less mess, better for you, and you get to keep all your teeth :)

Hehe, I didn't eat the sun fish lol! :P

The fish in the pan is cod or something looking very like it. I understand that a lot of fish look like cod, so can't be sure.

Sun Fish

I think it's a sun fish. Was on its side flapping a fin. I approached and took some photos and it went vertical and swam off to the deeps. Was about 1m across, roughly circular. Here's a pic... http://www.yacht-forum.co.uk/images/sunfish.jpg I was in Plymouth Sound/Cawsand Bay when I saw it. Sunday ...

I can't believe you'd even consider a roast! Best I've managed on the go so far has been the odd cup of coffee! Pot noodles a good idea in principle, but they're so bloomin awful I'd rather wait till I get to port. I'm only making half day voyages at the moment though. Oh, one thing I found which is...

Sailing Dogs

I read an article in a sailing magazine about a type of dog from Norway (I think) which was bred to go on sailing boats. It has a sixth sense for land or somesuch thing. I need a dog, and it would be great to be able to take it onboard with me, so one of these sounds ideal. Anyone know what they are...

Yeah. I'm no expert at all either, but you need air to go in _somewhere_ to mix with the fuel in the piston... not in the breather on top of the tank - must be somewhere else. I don't know where. Near the carb I would guess.

Mine are standard Hi-Tech. I look like a bit of a chav in them apparently, which isn't so good for getting in with the sailing snobs - but I don't think I want to get in with them ;)

(Though actually, so far everyone I've met in the sailing world has been lovely)

I am seriously no expert on this, but having had the same problem recently, don't discount the obvious. I flushed the carb and changed the plug in mine and it's fine now. Suggest you try to change the plug anyhow. And flush the carb, regardless of your fuel flow theories. But if you genuinely have f...

I'm on my boat right now. Not "living" on it, but definitely spending more than 49% of my life at the moment on it. Very much with you in terms of feelings towards increasing that %'age somewhat. So many little issues come to mind though when thinking of losing the land based abode... What...

Cheers for the try, but that's about a million miles from Devon I believe. Will give you a shout if I'm over that way though, thank you.

Spoke to a UK supplier and they said also that this particular model isn't particularly stable unless you're sat down. Back to the drawing board I think. A larger more traditional one would probably be fine - but wouldn't have the built in buoyancy. Some ppl on another forum said that a hard tender ...

Canadian Canoe as Yacht Tender?

I've been thinking... my tender and outboard are an awful lot of faff every time I want to visit my boat. And as I posted on here a bit ago, I need to hoist my outboard onto the pushpit each time also because my tender tends to flip in higher winds. Couple that with the cost of servicing the outboar...

Crew offered - I'd like to crew on a junk rigged yacht.

Hi, I'm reading "Voyaging on a small income" by Annie Hill and seriously considering the prospect of moving permanently onto a boat and travelling about willy nilly. In her book, Annie extols the virtues of the junk rig - and she makes a very good case for it - but I'm keen to give it a tr...
