Yes that is what I think I am trying to understand. I make no bones about the fact that I will have extended stays aboard my boat but also fully intend to keep the boat fit for purpose. Unlike some of the yachts I have observed in some marina's that are quite clearly just dumped there and fester int...

That is the problem - well for the moment - it has to be in Kent or poss south coast but all the marina's I have looked at I get the feeling that "don't even mention live aboard" is the attitude and one particular multi chain marina group even state in the terms and conditions "no mor...

The drying out or half tide marina's are mud births and state a max of 2 meter draught and the fact that a Bavaria 42 is there happily sitting in mud at low tide suggests that 2 meters is ok and the Bavaria is a fin keel and also a sun odyssey 40 there. I fully intend to do a fast track course and I...

experianced skipper up for an adventure?

I am looking at the feasability/cost of getting a yacht back from the med - prob port napoleon south of france to chatham medway area. I of course would pay all expenses regarding the trip and cost to the boat etc. I would also like this to be done ASAP (2 month gateway?) The task would require a de...

been visiting the pub that overlooks the marina to see any night activity. A few tellys and lights on in some boats and a conversation with a bloke that had a 48 foot power yacht (must have cost around £600.0000.00 and the biggest in the marina) hinted that some are permanently aboard so I guess jus...

Well just agreed a settlement figure with the partner so this is gonna happen in the next 2 weeks. Was thinking of going to Greece or south of france for a boat as the UK prices are seriously way over priced but may have found what I want. A Bavaria 39 Lagoon with Owners cabin but no holding tanks. ...

Ablutions while living aboard (sea toilet and holding tanks)

OK this could be a sensitive issue for some or not important for others depending on your habits. Right when I do get my yacht to live on - not if - then how the hell does one do the daily neccesary unless you are 3 miles off shore? Sea toilets are a big no no for a marina or even if you ignore the ...

Well what you said is what I feared about the Bravaria - guess that is why it has been on sale for 2 years. Had an email from the seller and it seems it has been stored outside for that time so I would suspect the foam core is drenched. It also has no sails etc so is just a lump of rotting damaged g...

Hi Thanks. Well the yachts I am looking at are Beneteau (oceanis pref) Jeanneau, Bravaria. I am budgeting in around 4-5k per year for maintenance and guessing at the cost of getting one back to the UK at around 5K I fully intend to do the Day Skipper course and I am reading up almost every day on co...

Complete novice and advice sought

Now you will all think me totally mad and foolhardy but I have a dream. Due to recent developments and a marriage that has amicably come to an end after 30 years (mutual and not aggressive decision) and indeed are still friends if that is possible I find myself in a position to live a dream. I wish ...
