Re: Which Reeds Almanac And Why????

Hi and welcome!! Sorry for the slow response - I've been climbing in the Alps! The full almanac is the one to go for, it has 1088 pages whereas the Western has only 288. Re: Safety?

Fantastic opportunity for you - you'll love it! Welcome! Things to think about... Clothing. Ideally wear wool if you can as opposed to cotton, under your waterproof outwear. If you have to buy your own gear, check out Decathlon who do high spec sailing wear for relatively very low prices. It's almos...

Re: Depth of water?

Vessel size is not important, it's what you do with it that counts ;) You ask good questions. I suspect the height between two adjacent ports which aren't far up a river or inside some estuary are unlikely to differ by as much as 4m are they? The heights even _at_ a port with figures available can n...

Re: Depth of water?

Hi, welcome to the forum! I've not planned a passage for over 3 years so I'm a bit rusty but.... Do you mean a rock that's far from a secondary or primary 'port' and so for which there's no specific tide height information? In practice unless it's a really quirky situation, the peak tide height diff...

Re: yacht transport

I used this website to get a few quotes:

https://www.deliveryquotecompare.com/boat-transport/

A company in Hull replied that seemed the most reasonable and professional.

Hope that helps!

Re: London

They're OK. Not the best, but far from the worst.

I believe it's changed now but when we were there the laundry facilities were on a floating pontoon within the area of moored boats, and they were completely free of charge.

Re: London

We 'lived' aboard in St Katherine Docks for a month without anyone batting an eyelid but I think ownership has changed since then. When we were there the way it worked was once you were in, you could stay as long as you liked. We booked our entrance 6 months ish in advance. If you were literally onl...

Whoa you're a right super sleuth! Did you used to work for any secret government establishments by any chance? :)

No round UK's for me for a few years.... just the annual fire service yacht race series in the Solent, very shortly now!
